Babysitting 101Comm Ed / Parenting & CaregivingThis course is best suited for 10 to 13-year-olds interested in learning the current practices of caring for young children and how to manage their babysitting business. Students will learn safety and injury prevention, CPR, first aid basics, feeding and caring for infants and how to handle behavior problems. Students receive a reference book, handouts, babysitting bag and first aid kit. Students should bring a beverage/water bottle, lunch, snacks and writing utensil.Community Education - F/W 26-27 -
F.A.S.T Kids -Staying Safe While Home AloneComm Ed / Parenting & CaregivingFirst Aid and Safety Trained (F.A.S.T.) Kids is a 4-hour course for 7–10-year-olds designed to help children stay safe at and away from home. Lessons cover basic first aid, water safety, vehicle safety, home emergencies, injury prevention, and stranger and internet safety. Students will receive a book, handouts, and a home first aid kit. Students should bring a water bottle/beverage, snacks, and colored pencils, crayons, or markers.Community Education - F/W 26-27 -
Parenting with PositivityComm Ed / Parenting & CaregivingParenting can be challenging and you don’t have to do it alone. This class is designed to help you create a calmer home, strengthen relationships with your child/ren and support positive behaviors through simple, practical strategies. You’ll learn research-based tools originally developed for classrooms and adapted for families. These skills focus on fostering nurturing interactions, providing emotional support and helping children develop important social and emotional abilities. You’ll leave with strategies ready to use right away! Each week of this five-week course includes a family dinner. After the meal, parents and children will separate for learning and hands-on activities before coming back together to practice new skills. One parent may register for the family. Registration will ask for the names of participating family members and any food allergies.Community Education - F/W 26-27
