Mah Jongg is a captivating game with a rich history, most often played with 4 people per table. It is a great way to challenge yourself by using your brain and strategy skills. You will learn the basics of the game, how to recognize the different tiles used, and how to understand the National Mah Jongg League card which is used for the game. You will also learn the basics of game play and be able to understand the progression of the game. You may even get your first "Mah Jongg!". Participants should plan to attend both classes in full. Content is fast-paced and arriving late/leaving early can disrupt play and affect the overall experience. Babysitting 101Comm Ed / Parenting & CaregivingThis course is best suited for 10 to 13-year-olds interested in learning the current practices of caring for young children and how to manage their babysitting business. Students will learn safety and injury prevention, CPR, first aid basics, feeding and caring for infants and how to handle behavior problems. Gymnasts will be introduced to all four events—vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise—through fun drills, games, and skill-building activities that help develop strength, coordination, flexibility, and confidence. Each one-hour class focuses on learning proper technique and building a strong foundation while encouraging teamwork, perseverance, and having fun. This class is a great place to grow skills and confidence while making new friends and cheering each other on. This class is best suited for gymnasts who are able to follow directions independently in a group setting, participate in physical activity for a full class period, and perform basic gymnastic skills (handstands, cartwheels, rolls, back/forward bends. Intro to RugbyComm Ed / Sports & FitnessWhether you're a seasoned athlete looking to try something new or have never touched a rugby ball, this introduction is for you! Rugby is an inclusive sport that welcomes all body types, skill levels, and athletic backgrounds. Designed for boys and girls in grades 6–12, this introductory session focuses on fun, fitness, and the fundamentals of rugby. Participants will learn basic skills such as passing, catching, running lines, and game strategy through engaging drills and modified games in a supportive environment. Students will be grouped by age and grade level whenever possible to ensure activities are developmentally appropriate and enjoyable for everyone. No prior rugby experience is necessary. Please wear comfortable athletic clothing that allows for plenty of movement. Plastic-molded cleats (soccer, football, or lacrosse cleats work great) are encouraged for better traction on the turf, but athletic shoes are also acceptable. If you already own a mouthguard, please bring it. While this is a low-contact introductory session, wearing a mouthguard is a good habit for rugby players to develop.
